Spending time with and petting a dog has been shown to do wonders in boosting one’s mood, relieving stress, and reducing blood pressure. Whether it’s the next class or the next exam, college students are constantly on the go. Allowing them to take a study break with some cute pups can be just what students need to get through the semester.
During equine therapy, students spend time grooming, feeding, leading and sometimes riding a horse while connecting with their friends and equine therapy staff. This is part of our wellbeing program at Salem.
The first student party of the year, Fall Lawn marks the official beginning of the Salem social calendar!
Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated in October at 51Ƶ. Faculty, administration, staff and students collaborate on celebratory displays and events throughout the month. The celebration culminates in Fiesta and Dia de Muertos at the beginning of November!
Semi-Formal is the second big party thrown by Campus Activities Board! Since it’s held at an off-campus venue, it’s a chance to party off-campus!
The Order of the Scorpions places snacks in the Refectory during Fall and Spring finals, as a campus morale booster and for good luck on exams. The Campus Activities Board (CAB), SGA, Office of Orientation, Student Engagement, and Intercultural Education, Student Health Services, and the Counseling Center sponsor stress-relief and celebratory programs, such as a Midnight Breakfast and Student Center “takeover,” prior to exams.
Black History Month is celebrated at Salem during four weeks of campus and community activities in February. At the culmination of the month, Salem students, faculty, and staff collaborate in the production of the Black History Month finale, The Celebration of Black Excellence.

Students gather in the Cafe to compete on a range of trivia topics including Salem trivia!
Students have the opportunity to socialize and splash in Salem Academy and College’s pool and recreation center.
